This was taken on our way home on one of our tours. It is close to the little town of Pella, in the Namaqualand area. The night before we slept on the ground because the inflatable matrass had a hole 😲. But we survived the night!
The Quiver tree or Kokerboom, is a tall, branching species of succulent plant, indigenous to Southern Africa, specifically in the Northern Cape region of South Africa, and parts of Southern Namibia.
The quiver tree gets its English common name from the San people’s practice of hollowing out the tubular branches of the tree to form quivers for their arrows. Medicinally, the roots can be used to treat asthma and tuberculosis.

🌈 Waterfall Rainbows 🌈
This was Forest Falls in Sabie. We arrived in the morning, late I have to admit and the sun was completely in the wrong position. So we drove around all day, with the idea of trying again in the afternoon.
We arrived back at the falls late in the afternoon. The sun was perfect, the falls was perfect, our mood was perfect. But there was another vehicle there 😲!!! NOT perfect 😒! But we made a cunning plan. We will wait them out! Man, we are clever some days 😁!
So while our plan was in effect, we took some photos around the falls where we were hidden from them. It went well...until...
There was a flaw in our cunning plan! They were not leaving and the sun was! Our plan was falling apart, or rather, approaching the horizon! As we were discussing alternatives to our (not so) cunning plan, a man arrived at the truck! He wanted to borrow some napkins. We gave him some napkins and then I did something I never thought I would do. Never! Ever!
I told him that I was going to be in the water topless and if he and his partner would mind. Of course he said they wouldn’t mind, duh! And so they became the first spectators to a Nonnie photoshoot! In the beginning it felt a bit awkward, but as the shoot went on I started to enjoy it 😲! Me, the shy woman enjoying it 😲!! It felt like I was doing a stage performance for them 💃😂!
But we got the shoot done. It felt great, refreshing and cool in the water. And I discovered I’m a bit of an exhibitionist 😜!

This was taken at Horse Shoe Falls in Sabie. This is downstream from the waterfall. The water rushing over the rocks is so calming, relaxing. I can sit there the whole day and just drink in the peace I feel there.

Our little hut on the Nel's Hoogte nature reserve. Got there one day and it was gone. Somebody decided to destroy the hut. It always bring me to the phrase my mother used to say: "You can never again go home." That meant that if you go back, either the place have changed, or you have changed. It will never be like you remembered.

A Windy Throwback Thursday

I just sit or stand and enjoy the wind. This was on our way to Cape Town in 2009, some 13 years ago 😲. We drove down for 3 days, enjoying some amazing scenery and seeing a lot of beautiful places.
And photos like this is what you get if your husband gets impatient and just wants to take photos. He doesn’t care about the wind, he doesn’t care about how the photos look, he doesn’t care about hair in my face...😲 He just wants to see my boobs next to the road 😂😂😂!!!
Think I’m joking? In those days he just wanted to take photos. Lots of them. Anywhere, everywhere, any time, any conditions! But he got is out of his system and has mellowed over the years 😉.

A prequel to tomorrow.
This was in 2009, 13 years ago. We were traveling to Cape Town. Via dirt roads of course. This was a ruin in a little town. In those days we didn't have GPS to pinpoint where the photos were taken. So I've got no idea what this town was called. We only took a few photos before nosy people came looking.
It took us 3 days to get to Cape Town. The first day we traveled to Bethulie. On the day we took these photos we were traveling to Graaff-Reinet where we stayed the night. It was actually a very nice trip.
Tomorrow I will post some more photos of this day...a very windy day!

This is a ruin in Sabie we visited on our last trip there. We love this ruin, but this time it was completely overgrown. We did the best we could, but didn't stay long here. The last photo is an older photos just to show the complete ruin.

Not even a Blue Monday today. It’s a Black Monday when you go to sleep in darkness and wake up in darkness.
Last night the power went of at 8pm and was only scheduled to go on again at midnight. So we went to bed 😜. This morning, the power went off again at 4am. So when I woke just after 4 am, it was still dark 😲! I don't know how long this will go on, but it is so irritating!
