Memory Lane 10.1 We were very happy with the photos in nature. We explored, I posed, we had fun and enjoyed every minute. But then the exploring became just revisiting. You can only travel so far in one day! Every place was explored! I have to admit it took a full year for us to reach this point, but reach it we did. A new approach was required. Then my mother came to visit. An idea took hold, and a new era came to be! The grandparents could watch the children while we go away for a few days!😆 No harm, no foul.😲😂 They wanted grandchildren, so enjoy your grandchildren for a while!. So our first trip was planned. It was only two nights away, but for us it felt like a month of peace and quiet. On the Friday we traveled from our home to the most southern point of Africa. Yes, we did take naughty photos there that will be posted to the naughty sites!😉 From there we traveled to Barrydale where we slept in a hotel, the Royal Hotel. I felt like royalty myself!👸 I mean the last time I slept in a hotel was on my honeymoon! And that was 16 years previously! We had a beer at the bar in the hotel. Our first day of our first trip was going very well indeed!

Memory Lane 10.2 The next morning we travel to Mosselbaai where we visited the Bartolomeu Dias Museum. From there we drove to Knysna, visiting and exploring all the way. We were in heaven again! Exploring is so much fun! We visited the “Garden of Eden”🌼 in Knysna and then crossed the mountains on the Prince Alfred Pass to Oudtshoorn. Crossing the pass we discovered a ruin, small waterfalls and some of the best views ever!🌄 It was so amazing that we misjudged the time completely and soon it was turning dark…and we had no place to sleep!🤦♀️ As soon as we had cell reception, I started phoning for accommodation. And of course, when you are stressed, in a hurry and need place to sleep fast, nothing ever works out. Numbers busy, numbers not existing anymore, places fully booked!😲 But as we drove into Oudtshoorn, desponded, worried and low on morale, I found a spot at a B&B!👍 I would have slept in a barn at that stage!😅

Memory Lane 10.3 On the Sunday we headed home via the Swartberg Pass. Driving up the mountain we traveled in thick mist all the way up the pass. It was very scary. It is a small gravel road all the way to the top of the mountain. As we reached the top, all the mist was gone. One side of the mountain is covered with mist…the other side is in bright sunshine!😲 I found it amazing! At the top there is a sign that reads “Die Top”, (“The Top”). I still posed under the sign that said “Die Top” (“The Top”), without my top!😅 Down the other side we drove to a little town called Montague. There we had lunch at a house with a peach orchard right next to it. We asked the owner if we can taste some of the peaches. He brought two plastic bags and said we can take as much peaches as we wanted! What a generous person!🙏 This last day of our first long trip turned out to be a great day for exploring. We discovered “Die Top”, crystal clear rivers, an abandoned car from the 30’s, windmills and the best my far…An old steam train! It was an amazing day all in all.😁 And so a new era was born in our ever evolving hobby. Travel as far as you can!
