2021-05-22 22:53:04 +0000 UTC View PostSometimes I get overwhelmed when playing chess... especially when Iâm playing someone a lot better than me. The key is to stay calm and start strong. This generally means sticking with the basics! There is three golden rules I always start out with: 1) Control the center. 2) Develop your pieces to good, relevant squares . 3 Bring your king to safety.

2021-02-23 19:30:44 +0000 UTC View PostMy First Solo chess game!! Yay! I made this video to show you guys my first time playing solo chess. The rules are that you have to capture a piece with every move, a piece can only capture another piece twice, and if a king is on the board it has to capture the last piece. You have to complete the puzzle successfully on your first try! This is my first go round at it! While I made this video, I was feeling a little sick this week and wanted to do a tutorial earlier for yâall but this is something easy you can do for practice and itâs great for helping you learn how the pieces move and also how to think ahead! Iâm pretty new at content creating but I love and appreciate the feedback from all of you guys! Letâs grow and rock this shit together â¤ď¸ Let me know what you guys think!! Xoxo -Olivia Knight

2021-01-26 17:42:29 +0000 UTC View PostFood for thought: The game of chess can be traced back nearly 1500 years ago. Donât you guys find it amazing that something has remained so relevant for that long just as it is?? No added bells or whistles but the thing thatâs keeping it relevant is a shared group of peopleâs interest from generation to generation.

2021-01-23 19:51:00 +0000 UTC View PostFinally, Tip 10!!!) Win the âEndgameâ! After youâre down to just a few pieces, the endgame begins. Now the pawns become more important. If you can advance a pawn to the farthest row away from you, that pawn becomes a queen. Let your king attack, too. This is really the time to feel like a boss bitch and use your powerful pieces! Checkmate your opponent and go get a glass of wine or whiskey to celebrate! đˇđĽđĽđžâ¨
2021-01-22 16:27:20 +0000 UTC View PostTip 9) Donât rush! Even if youâre on the clock. If you know you have a great move make sure to think it through and make sure itâs the best because you could be falling into a trap...
2021-01-22 07:49:06 +0000 UTC View PostTip 8) You're going to lose pieces so lose them wisely. Youâll take some of your opponentâs pieces. Some of your pieces will be taken. You must figure out what is and isnât a good swap. Use these points to figure out whether youâre making a good move if youâre going to lose one of them: Queen: 9 points Rook: 5 points Bishop: 3 points Knight: 3 points Pawn: 1 point
2021-01-22 02:37:07 +0000 UTC View PostTIP 7) Attack in the âmiddlegameâ! After youâve brought all your knights and bishops into the game and castled (these moves are your âopeningâ), the middlegame begins. In the middlegame, always be on the lookout for ways to capture your opponent. Take any piece that your opponent doesnât protect. But look at what will happen to your piece if you take his â will you get picked off back? Always be looking for ways to move lots of your pieces into position to attack the enemy king. -Olivia Knight

2021-01-19 19:42:47 +0000 UTC View PostTIP 6) Castle Early! Castling is a move that allows you to move your king to safety and bring your rook into play. Once all the squares between your rook and the king are unoccupied you can move the king two squares toward the rook while the rook moves to the square on the the kingâs other side. If your opponent neglects to castle, you might be able to launch an attack on his king. This is the only move in which more than one piece may be moved in a turn. I think it looks pretty cool too đđđ -Olivia Knight
2021-01-15 03:36:56 +0000 UTC View PostTIP 5) Donât waste time! Donât make too many moves with your pawns or try to pick off your opponentâs pawns. A good thing doesnât last forever đ -Olivia Knight
2021-01-14 07:10:03 +0000 UTC View PostTIP 4) Always watch your back....and front...and side! When itâs your turn, always think to yourself, âWhat did my opponentâs last move do? What are they up to?â Always look at all your possibilities. Look at moves that would capture your opponentâs pieces or threaten the king first. But always double-check your moves before you play them. Ask yourself, âDoes my move leave something unprotected?â -Olivia Knight
