Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸
Thank you to all of those who have served, and sacrificed.

Memorial Day in the United States originated after the Civil War, and was first celebrated in 1868 as "Decoration Day" when graves of soldiers fallen (both Union and Confederate) would be decorated with flowers.

The timing of the holiday is to coincide with the most likely time for flowers to bloom. Poppies are typically associated with memorials after a famous poem, In Flanders' Fields, was published during WWl after noting the multitude of poppies growing over soldier burial grounds. The American Legion soon adopted the poppy as a symbol of mourning and memorializing those that sacrificed their lives in war.
Peace, Love and Boobs!
