Swinging refers to a legal couple or cohabiting partners engaging in sexual activities with one or more other individuals simultaneously, first appearing in the United States around the 1950s.

在一部由著名导演李安1997年执导的反映上世纪70年代美国中产阶级家庭变迁史的电影《冰风暴》中，这样的聚会还有一个名字，叫做“keyparty”，来参加聚会的夫妻们将各自的汽车和房门钥匙放在进门处的一个碗中，在离开聚会时会由聚会的组织者召集大家一起来从这个碗中随机摸取钥匙，如果你摸的不是自己先前放入的那把，那么你就需要带上别人的妻子或者丈夫回自己的家过夜。
