**CALORIC INTAKE OVER 50 AND WEIGHT GAIN** CARBS! OMG I *LOVE* food. So much. Yes, I have a problem with the occasional splurge, like everyone else. Unfortunately, as you age, your body actually requires *less caloric intake* "Once you reach adulthood, your muscle mass gradually decreases while the proportion of fat increases. Since muscle tissue burns more calories than fat, you'll need fewer calories to maintain your usual weight. If you keep eating the same amount as you get older, those extra calories will turn into extra pounds." One way to combat this spread/muscle loss as we get older is through weight lifting/strength training. I am doing this now- I've started working out 3x a week with a professional trainer- but I find myself hungrier than I have been in eons and have to work with a nutritionist to balance it out.
