La bienvenida Cartagena, Colombia !!!! A city full of vibrant color and people, I was able to bring in 2024 in this magical city. I stayed for 8 nights and 9 days which seemed like 2 days. I highly recommend paying this city a visit, Cartagena offers incredible street food and is full of history within the walled city dating back to 1568. The city itself is surrounded by 11 kilometres of fortress walls to protect against foreign invasions and pirate attacks. Cartagena was one of the major ports on the northern coast of Colombia in the Caribbean coast region. Cartagena’s past role as a link in the route to the West Indies provides it with important historical value for world exploration and preservation of heritage from the great commercial maritime routes. With that being said go check it out for yourself. Outside these great walls lays 27 different caribbean islands, one with which was home to cocaine king Pablo Escobar. The Colombia government still owns his ruins of a property which can be seen by boat while passing the island of “la isla grande” in Baru, Colombia. Indulge in seafood brought directly to your boat by the local people of these islands, it was probably the best food I had the entire trip. These local fishermen not only chuck you fresh oysters but you can choose between fried local fish, prawns and a shrimp curry dish all for just $50 a person. I hope you enjoy my pics an historical rundown :) unit next time xoxo- Mila
